Remember the incredibly sleek twin turbocharged Ford Mustang developed by legendary doorslammer racer Mike Moran that made its public unveiling last winter? Well, that swoopy machine that collectively had every drag racing fan and  Ford aficionado drooling down their chins has yet to make an on-track debut, but one of its sister cars has, and another will soon follow.

Moran, the first turbocharged Pro Modified racer into the five-second zone, spent a year developing an aerodynamic Ford Mustang body with the 250+ mph speeds that Pro Modifieds are attaining today in mind, and later turned over the final product to Jerry Bickel Race Cars to create the first of these new Mustangs that he would tune and drive. As Moran alluded to at the time, that first car has spawned two additional cars, with possibly others in the works.

Mission, B.C. native Jim Obalek, who recently was the pilot of Twig Zeigler’s Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car, debuted this gorgeous new Bickel-built Mustang featuring the Moran body last weekend at the Rocky Mountain Shootout at Alberta, Canada’s Castrol Raceway. Owned by Jim Bell, the new ride sports power from a twin turbo Proline Racing mill.

According Obalek, the team ran a best of 7.51 in their debut on a 500-foot shutoff pass.

Although details are limited, another of these Mustang’s has reportedly been completed at Bickel’s and is headed to the Seattle area. No word yet on who the owner is or where it will race, but the car is said to be mated with a one-off, screw-blown Ford powerplant.
