Do you love classic cars? How about heads up racing? Well if you answered yes to either, you’re going to really enjoy Paul Bednarik’s 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie.

Originally starting this project over 10 years ago, Paul planned to race the car in Outlaw 10.5. With work and family obligations coming first, the project was put on the back burner for some time. After witnessing X275 racing at local tracks and speaking with rules organizer John Sears, Paul was hooked. Shortly after that, work began transforming the once back halved race car into this X275 legal chassis you see here.

With hopes of sending this Galaxie into low fives (1/8th mile) on a 275/60/15 radial tire, Paul is using a 545 cid Big Block Ford. Starting with an A460 block, Scat 4340 crankshaft done by Adney Brown at Performance Crankshaft in Roseville Michigan, Lunati connecting rods and JE pistons round out the short block. A set of Trick Flow A460 heads finished by TEA, a Trick Flow intake and a  Holley 1250 dominator, take care of the top end. Finishing out the engine assembly is an ATI balancer, Peterson combination oil/vacuum pump unit and a Danny Bee belt drive.

Now for most of us, this would be more than enough power. But as per the X275 rules, big blocks may also use a single stage of nitrous. So Paul is doing exactly that and installing a single stage NOS fogger nitrous system.

The transmission consists of a Reid Racing, two-piece Superglide case and bellhousing. A braced 9″ housing rear end, Moser internals with Wilwood brakes, plants the power to the ground.
