And accomplish the Al-Anabi Performance team did, as they recently set the bar (unofficially) for NHRA-legal Pro Modified cars with a staggering 5.736 at 249.49 mph at the Qatar Racing Club in Doha, Qatar.

Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani himself, the man behind Al-Anabi Racing and Al-Anabi Performance, climbed behind the wheel of his his brand new Jerry Bickel Race Cars-built C7 Corvette, and with veteran tuner and world champion driver Frank Manzo turning the knobs, cranked off the record-breaking elapsed time and the speed that ranks among the fastest supercharged Pro Modified runs ever.

The new ‘Vette, as Manzo shares with the 1320Video crew, is a 521 cubic-inch Brad Anderson Hemi with a Chuck Ford supercharger and an air-shifted Lenco transmission. The car tips the scales at 2,620 pounds, just a touch over the NHRA-mandated minimum of 2,600 for supercharged cars. American racer Melanie Troxel still owns the official NHRA Pro Modified record of 5.772, set in 2011.
