Just a few short months after receiving its final touches from fabricator Tim Takash and the rest of the crew at Titan Motorsports down in Orlando, Ebrahim Kanoo’s 10.5 Toyota Supra has shifted its way into the import record books this week over in Bahrain. You may remember our feature on the car’s revealing back in August of last year, which can be checked out here.

Although the car is raced exclusively overseas in the BDRC (Bahrain Drag Racing Championship), its entire construction was done right here in the states. Tuner Shane Tecklenburg along with Eric Luzinski handle the car’s constant engineering needs and improvements. Running in the Outlaw 6 cylinder class, the turbocharged, Methanol fed 2JZ powerplant has now proven to be enough to run at the top, right on into the 6’s.

In round 4 this week, Kanoo himself was piloting his stock suspension Supra, while well known Gary White took the wheel of the quicker car. Although Kanoo managed to nail a 2nd place qualifying time, he would be taken out by a transbrake issue in the first round, leaving White to get them in the winner’s circle. While in Round 3 the team ran their personal best 6.46, White made an even sweeter pass coming in at 6.41 at 211 mph, making it the quickest pass to date in a Toyota Supra-bodied car in the 1/4 mile. Unfortunately, the final elimination round was postponed until the qualifying of round 5. White and the Kanoo racing team will be looking to push this 10.5 machine even further to get under that 6.40 mark in the next event.

Whether they can get there or not is still a story to be told on the 1320, but if anyone is going to find the extreme limits of a 2jz Toyota powerplant, it’d be none other than the import masterminds at Titan Motorsports.
