Independent NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series fuel Funny Car standouts Dave Richards and Dale Creasy, Jr. were unhurt in a high-speed collision during the opening round of professional qualifying at the Texas NHRA FallNationals at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas on Friday afternoon.
Creasy, running in the left lane, drifted across the centerline near the 330-foot marker directly into the path of the hard-charging Ford Mustang of Richards. Richards impacted the right rear of Creasy’s machine near the 1/8-mile at a speed well in excess of 250 mph, sending them both careening out of control in the shutdown area. Both drivers’ cars struck the left lane retaining wall as they rolled to a stop, but fortunately, both drivers emerged from their beaten and battered race cars and were walking around surveying the damage.
