When the news broke that Motive Gear‘s parent company Midwest Truck & Auto Parts had acquired the assets of Richmond Gear, many wondered what would happen to the Richmond brands. This acquisition not only included the Richmond Gear name but also, Powertrax and Lock-Right. When we stopped by to see the folks at Motive Gear at PRI 2012 they were excited to tell us about their plans to bring back the name Powertrax to the performance market.
“The Powertrax name had some go about ten years ago, but the name kind of got dropped over the years,” explained Bob Linville of Motive Gear. “Starting in 2013, we are going to shave a full line of spools and lockers under the Powertrax name.”Â
For 2013, Motive gear will be offering a Powertrax lock right no – slip automatic locking differentials that utilize the factory case.”You can install these without pulling your housing out,” Linville told us. “Just open up your rear end slip the pin out, put these in and now you basically have a locking system.”
Also new for 2013 under the Powertrax name is the Grip LS that is a clutch style friction disc type limited slip.
Powertrax Grip LS Features:
- Designed in-house to be strongest friction disc type limited slip
- Forged steel case
- Carbon clutch discs
