In what is a multi-faceted strategic move, Rick Jackson, owner and crew chief of the Centre Pointe Colision Top Alcohol Funny Car and John Lombardo, owner and driver of the NAPA Auto Parts machine, have teamed up in an effort to combine and double their resources, improve their performance and championship efforts, increase exposure for John Lombardo Racing, and provide a greater fan experience.
Jackson and Lombardo are both excited about the move and plan to take full advantage of partnership. Lombardo is bringing NAPA Auto Parts, Lucas Oil, NAPA Batteries, NAPA Filters.com, NAPA Power Supreme, NGK Spark Plugs, NAPA Belts and Hose, CP Carrillo, Crower, Midtronics, Mechanix Wear, NYNY Hotel and Casino, Raymond’s Trophy, and Twin Palms with him and Jackson is coming to the table with BASF Automotive Paints and other marketing partners as well. Lombardo will be retaining his car, all of his equipment and transporter so that the team can set up both rigs at several races and events offering fans a “Big Show” presence.
The newly formed team has a fresh Brad Hadman-built Ford Mustang that will be debuted at the 2014 Winternationals. Lombardo, the defending event champion, will again be behind the wheel and Jackson will continue on as the team’s crew chief.
Both teams have won national events this year, have multiple wins in years-gone-by and each have won multiple regional championships. Jackson’s team has also been runner-up for two NHRA Championships, and led the points chase for much of 2013 with veteran driver Tony Bartone. Both Lombardo and Jackson, legtimate title contenders year in and year out, will be among the favorites in 2014, no doubt.
