Not all clutches are created equal, and that goes for both manufactures and variances between different vehicle models. A lesser known fact is that the BOSS 302 Mustangs actually contain three more pressure plate bolts than the normal GT. It has been rumored that either the high RPMs or vehicle harmonics played a roll into why Ford equipped the BOSS with these extra bolts, but what we do know is that BOSS Mustangs equipped with GT clutches (early equipped race cars) have had problems with the bolts backing out during races.
SPEC Clutch is on top of what is going on though, and will be making BOSS-specific clutch kits. They will be offering them with their traditional Stage 1-5 upgrades as well as their twin disc. You can start with their Stage 1 that features an integrally molded carbon kevlar-based, high performance organic lining that offers smooth engagement and excellent life. This lining has an integrally bonded steel backing for strength under high clamp loads and temperatures. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability.
Or if you want something on the extreme, the Stage 5 features a full-metallic disc with the highest possible friction co-efficient. Street drivable but not street-friendly. The hub is solid 12-rivet and the assembly is heat treated for strength and durability. Best for extreme street and drag racing.
Lastly, their Super Twin kits are perfect for street and track use for cars with extreme horsepower and torque. They feature near stock drivability, all billet construction, and maintenance free operation. Regardless if you are making 600-1600 lb/ft of torque, SPEC has the right clutch for you.
