Bruder’s New Combo Records 158 MPH on First Outing at Atco

Rich Bruder has always been a top contender through the years and now that Bruder Brothers Racing is running X275 things are no different. This past February Rich set the X275 ET record with a 4.65 at 151 MPH at the Lights Out III event at South  Georgia Motorsports Park. In the ultra competitive world of small tire racing records are set and reset more often that many fans can keep track of and with the various competitive combos it seems every one has a record of its own.

After setting the ET record in the rain shortened event, the Bruder’s and teammate Mustang Mike Modeste tore the engine down for some upgrades including the new billet SBF heads from Ultra Pro Machine and a Marcella Manifolds fabricated intake, along with a new F1X supercharger from ProCharger.

The engine is now a Fontana 400 ci. block freshened up by Weston Machine while the assembly was done in house as always, featuring new Diamond pistons to match the chambers in the heads, new BME rods and Sonny Bryant crankshaft. It’s fed by the new Procharger F1-X with Big Stuff 3 engine management driving Billet Atomizer Injectors. This recent photo provided by Nick Bruder shows the new heads and intake all buttoned up in the car.

With a short time schedule to get it back going there were many folks involved in the project with Crazy Don’s Chassis Shop getting some big props for coming out on Easter Sunday (yes you read that right) to make the new headers and some cage modifications. If that’s not going beyond the call nothing is. Also during the rebuild Rich Bruder and his wife brought a new child into the family.

With the car just finished up in time for Atco’s X275 but no testing yet due to rain the Wednesday before the race they went in blind, tore up a transmission Friday morning then started out soft Saturday, edging their way up to a 4.82 at 158.9 MPH at the first event with the new combo, sending shock waves through the racing community, again.

The Bruder Brothers Racing crew after their win at the 2011 Yellow Bullet Nationals, held at Cecil County Dragway. “None of this would be possible without the support of our wives and family, to support us and deal with us gone so often. Also a huge thank you to John Sears for making X275 what it is today....there would be no X275 without him. The media for giving racers the exposure to the fans across the world and Yellowbullet.com for hosting the meeting place for racers and fans to share it all with.” – Nicholas Bruder

The following companies were instrumental in getting the new combo completed in a timely manner says Nicholas Bruder. Mustang Mike & Ralph and Johns Automotive, Crazy Don's Chassis Shop, ProCharger / Dave W, Weston Machine, Ultra Pro Machine, DiSomma Racing Engines, Marcella Intakes, Mickey Thompson, Billet Atomizer Injectors, Jesel, BME rods, Diamond Pistons, and FireCore 50. Most of these companies have been integral in their support of Team Bruder through the years; Bigstuff3, Injection Connection, Chiseled Performance, Racecraft, Santhuff Shocks, VP Racing/Jason Rueckert, The Supercharger Store, OAB, ATI Transmissions, Peterson Fluid Systems, and Skinnyman Chassis.
