No doubt the cars featured on the Discovery Channel’s reality hit “Street Outlaws” have come a long way from the days of being street-driven hot rods — a fact that often draws considerable criticism from viewers — but it is nevertheless the response to progress in the street and no-prep racing world. You either step up or you step out, and if you choose the former, you have to be willing to invest in a machine that is a state-of-the-art in every regard.

“Daddy Dave” Comstock recognized that need as he relentlessly pressed his “Goliath” Chevy II into battle against certifiable Pro Modified-style machines. This offseason, Comstock molded his ride into a firearm fit for today’s gun-fights, delivering his famed car to Bob Tynan at Tynan Race Cars in Missouri. There, the chassis was upgraded to double framerail for the ultimate in rigidity and structural integrity, the 4-link was updated for added adjustability, a new nose crafted, the ride height lowered significantly, and more. In his never-ending quest to find the best and most reliable bullet for the street, he has also switched back to the ProCharger combination for the second time; Comstock purchased a complete Pro Line Racing Hemi from Pro Modified racer Randy Weatherford, with a ProCharger F-3X-140 out front, that has previously covered the 1/8-mile in 3.59-seconds.
