When you were little, convincing Mom to toss a quarter (or nickel, depending on your age!) into the ride outside the supermarket or drugstore was likely a favorite passion. Sitting on (or in) one of those pocket-emtpying, kid-quieting machines could be the highlight of the week, especially after tagging along with Mom through the supermarket as she picked up a cart full of Jello Pudding Pops and CapriSun to satisfy your sugar cravings before bed.

So when we came across these videos, we had to share. From the insanely-short wheelbase to the lack of windows to the butterfly-style steering wheel, this thing is what every kid wishes he could have at the age of seven…only it’s been built for real.  The “Postman Pat” van, built in England, was conceived and built by Tim Armitage and David Taylor, while Ian Armitage of Big Littles Rod N’ Race Shop did the paint and body work on this ridiculous machine. Driver Ben Rushforth also runs his own 9-second Willys and 8-second V-12 Jag-powered T-bucket,so he’s no stranger to high-horsepower, short-wheelbase machines.

The body on this awesome little creation is based upon that made famous in the British stop-motion animated children’s show Postman Pat, and is intended to mimic the Bedford HA vehicle built by Vauxhall.
