Since the days of the Fox Mustang, Vortech has been synonymous with centrifugal supercharging. Fittingly, the company’s big news at The PRI Show this week was a new line of racing blowers bearing the V30 moniker. Both a 94mm unit targeting NMRA Renegade class and a 112mm unit meant for Outlaw racers.

“It’s a new racing blower that we have designed for this upcoming racing season. We put a lot of technology into this blower,” Jimmy Martz, Director Global Sales of Vortech, explained. “Obviously there is a bellmouth integrated into the supercharger inlet. We have done a lot of inlet enhancements to get air into the blower and internally we have added more durable components.”

Though the integrated bellmouth and some other airflow tricks help feed more air to the impeller, it is a new technology that helps tighten the impeller to volute clearances in the blower to improve efficiency.

“We are using a proprietary material for the impeller that is stronger than 7075 and we also have a new technology that we have deemed NTT, which stands for Nano Tolerance Technology,” Jimmy continued. “That allows us to make the blower more efficient by cutting down the tolerances between the impeller and the volute, which will make more power.”

The first V30 blowers out of the box are targeted at NMRA Renegade and Outlaw racers with respective impeller sizes of 94 and 112 mm.

While it will certainly be interesting to see these units in racing combat next season, they weren’t the only new units on display. Vortech’s sister company Paxton also showed off a prototype that currently flies under the Paxton Race Unit banner and brings a lot of the Vortech technology—including an integrated bellmouth and a billet impeller—to Paxton customers looking to make 1,700 to 1,900 horsepower.
