Steve Jackson Stuffs A Screw Blower Into “The Shadow” For 2015!

Steve Jackson and Phil Shuler revealed a major change in their grudge-car-turned-radial-badass Fox body Mustang known as “The Shadow” over the weekend when a photo below began circulating on Facebook. Gone is the big-inch nitrous mill, replaced by a screw-blown torque monster that’s sure to make waves and crease eardrums when they begin pursuing radial-tired glory next month at Donald Long’s Lights Out 6 at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

BlowerJackson showed up at No Mercy 5 (Lights Out’s twin race held each fall) and took the top qualifying spot in Radial vs the World with a solid 4.10 and ended the weekend in the quarterfinals when Brad Edwards powered past him on the top end, 4.14 to Stevie’s 4.16. While he didn’t win, he’d certainly made a splash in the premiere radial class.

When asked if he’s planning on running more of the major radial races in 2015, Stevie was pointed: “Oh yeah, I’m coming!”

Many assumed the switch to the blower was one of necessity, that perhaps the nitrous combo was tapped out to run deep 4.1’s, but to that assumption, Jackson replied, “No. Blowers are [just] cool!”

OrangeMost radial fans will remember Stevie’s infamous Killin’ Time Racing Nitro Piranha Mustang that catapulted him to internet fame (or infamy in the eyes of some) as videos surfaced of Jackson’s trademark trash talk when trying to lock in grudge races all over the southeast. Of course, the blown Fox Body was always generally up to the task of backing up Jackson’s mouth, leading to a feared reputation on the grudge scene.

Jackson will be tuning the new screw blown combo and handling driving duties, and if we know Stevie, he’ll make time for a little trash talk to rile up his fellow Radial vs the World competitors. With plans to hit up most of the major radial events throughout the season, expect the Shadow, with its new powerplant, to shake things up in the ranks. “Bring ’em on!” Stevie says. “They can all get some!”
