No-prep racing began as a way to simulate street racing in an environment where participants weren’t breaking the law and could compete somewhere safe. The surface of a no-prep event is the greatest equalizer there is — if you try to use too much horsepower you’re going to run into problems. Charlotte Schmidt went for a scary ride during the recent Brawl In The Falls 2.0 no-prep race when her supercharged Chevy overpowered the track.

Schmidt’s 1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery wagon is a fairly nasty ride that has plenty of rip. The car is powered by a 526 cubic-inch big-block Chevy that’s topped off with a screw-type supercharger. Schmidt has been racing this car and other supercharged machines for a long time, and she decided it was time to try her hand at some no-prep racing. Her first time on a no-prep surface was at Bounty Hunters back in March.

National No Prep Racing Association was at Brawl In The Falls 2.0 and captured Schmidt’s mishap from several different angles. The wagon left hard, but began drifting to the right in a hurry, Schmidt tried to correct the car’s path while pedaling it, but the wagon wasn’t in the mood to comply with her commands. The Chevy’s momentum swung it back towards the left wall and the car crossed the centerline, Schmidt tried to save it but her fate was sealed. She did a great job keeping the car from making a hard impact with the wall on the driver’s side, but ultimately it slowly rolled onto its lid and slid down the track. Thankfully, Schmidt wasn’t hurt and the car appears to be repairable.
