The Australian Pro Street Association is a series based around real street cars, where the majority must be registered, although it’s not necessary depending upon the class. The series has nine different classes ranging from Pro Street Blown to True Street to X275, and they put on five events throughout the course of the Australian racing season.Â
This badass Holden Monaro HQ owned by engine builder Greg Trapnell of Trapnell Race Engines competes in the Modified Street Unblown class and shows the extreme of what a hard launch can do to a chassis. He carries the left front wheel to at least the 330-foot mark on occasion and appears to be on the edge of control at all times – we can’t imagine how difficult it is to keep the car pointed in the right direction while making your shifts on time.
We’d hate to look underneath, although it seems to serve Trapnell well – he’s won a number of events along with placing high on the list of finishers for a couple of years now.
From the stacks poking out of the hood to the insane launches, Trapnell’s machine is a crowd-pleaser every time it takes the starting line. It’s based around a 632-cubic-inch Chevrolet big-block engine and is currently number one on the list of Australia’s quickest street cars in the Modified Street Unblown category with an 8.82 at 155.65 MPH.
Getting down the track this way certainly isn’t the quickest way from A to B, but it’s guaranteed to be one of the coolest things you’ll see today. Check it out!
