Video: Sean Ashe Sets NMCA Street Outlaw Record With 7.29 At 195 MPH

The NMCA and NMRA set out towards the end of last season to create a new class, one that would combine the Drag Radial and Super Street Outlaw class on the NMRA side and update the Drag Radial rules on the NMCA side. The goal was to entice racers currently competing in X275 and in other classes to build/modify their combinations for the exciting new class, and come try out the NMCA and NMRA in the process. One of those racers, Florida’s Sean Ashe, is one of the big-time players on the X275 circuit, and he decided that the new class was a place where he could come right in and compete for the top spot. Ashe runs a killer 406 cubic inch small block Ford engine motivated by a ProCharger F-1X supercharger, and at last weekend’s NMCA opener in Bradenton, Florida, Ashe took the track in search of a killer elapsed time.

IMG_7991The ProCharger F-1X has completely turned the small-tire racing world on its collective ear since the supercharger’s introduction at the beginning of last race season. Ashe runs one combined with an ATFSpeed gear drive, as ATF’s Jason Gatlin also serves as his crew chief. The car runs at 3,200 pounds on a 275-width Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Pro tire, and after the team sorted the car out, an insane 7.29 blast at over 195 MPH was the end result. Crew chief Gatlin weighed in by saying, “We would like to thank the NMCA for providing us a place to race, and thank Bradenton Motorsports Park for the great track surface to race on. We were using our newest lightweight TH400 transmission in the car for this race, and its performance was exceptional.”

External and in-car video is on tap, and we even got chills while watching it – it’s a great way to start off a Tuesday morning. The video is in full 1080P HD, so make sure to click the little gear symbol at the bottom right of the video window and set it up. Congratulations to Sean, ATFSpeed, his crew, ProCharger, and everyone else involved in this record run. We can only imagine what’s on tap for the rest of the season as this experienced team gets more laps under their belt with the combination.
