The first stop was Virginia Motorsports Park where the highlight of the weekend was the Top Sportsman class as 35 drivers competed in the Clash of the Titans for $10,000 from Summit Racing Equipment. Chuck Mohn sat atop the qualifying ladder with a 4.125-second elapsed time, but in the end it was an all-Virginia final with Terry Teets facing William Brown III. After qualifying, Teets was sitting near the middle of the 32-car field with a number fifteen qualifying effort, but he fought through five rigorous rounds of racing to take home the big money from Summit Racing.
The next stop on the tour was Martin, Michigan at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park and it proved to be a wild weekend for the highlight reels. Jim Laurita unfortunately highlighted this edition with a wild crash in Pro Nitrous as his Chevy Camaro made a slight wobble and then turned hard to the right into the wall and eventually crossed the finish line on his roof. Mick Snyder in his Pro Extreme Corvette, who was the odds-on favorite after his recent dominating run, bowed out early in round one at Martin after a wild ride. As Snyder and his competition left the line they were completely crossed up at nearly identical points on the track. Snyder couldn’t get the car to recover and was up on two wheels as he brushed the wall with the wing of Powerhouse Motorsports-backed machine. Lastly, Brandon Pesz and his 1958 Corvette competing in Pro Extreme hydraulic-ed a motor at the stripe with a little bit of fire that quickly extinguished. Fortunately due to the constant improvements of the sanctioning bodies in racing and their safety requirements all of these drivers walked away unscathed.
